The Beast that is LA

The ever sprawling beast that is Los Angeles creeps its way into the nooks and crannies of different cultures, lifestyles, and ethnicities from around the globe. As this slow moving and ever lasting entity glides through time we stand here unbenounced to its many hidden treasures or yet to be discovered islands of cultural gold forged by pirates, cowboys, and past settlers. The small jewels of forgotten land fills and decrepit buildings are slowly becoming a modern day big bang happening right before our eyes. The areas that were once home to squatters and only visited by the brave photographer are becoming a go to spot for artists or entrepenours searching for their next big idea or creative perspective.

Big Bang!

The Downtown LA "Arts District" was not always known for the hype lively culture that we associate with the area today. The beautiful paved buildings and high fashion shops that line the streets were nowhere to be seen as the majority of the people that ventured into the area were the construction worker or vagrants that were as cyclical in nature as the very funding that poured through the streets. What was once never thought of as artistic or up and coming has now become the place to see and explore for any young artist or fashionista. There is no such thing as a rule book in the arts district much like the past pirates and explores that once inhabited the area it still remains the same concept of “build what you imagine and settle for nothing less”.

Rebirth

Still to this day art covers the building walls, taged by the renegades of the street who call this area home. Once shunned and casted out these very artists whom bring their creations to the windows of every passing car and morning commuter are now becoming a breath of fresh air for a once choking city. Bringing everyone together, the Arts District breaths air into your lungs of imagery and concepts that no other part of this city can do. Its something different, its something new, its something out there, its something that you can’t admit but have to admit to the shear reality of what is happening and what is becoming. All of this in one area that is no larger than 10 square blocks.
